Health and fitness is the fundamental right of every human despite age, gender and status, so everyone must be aware of the concept what is health and fitness and its components. It is the essential social goal to attain the highest possible levels of fitness and health, all over the world. For this one must follow and maintain a healthy lifestyle despite waiting to get sick and then putting things to right. Many people relate health with physical appearance and thinness, but it means to be fit not only from outside but from inside out.

What is Health

Health has different meanings it means having a sound mind, sound body and also absence of sickness. For a physician, it refers to normal functioning and normal structure of the body and for a psychiatrist, it means to have a balanced personality free from any mental disorder. According to the World Health Organization, it is mental, social and physical wellbeing, not merely the absence of disease. Being physically healthy means to have ideal body structure, weight and height according to your age and gender.

It focuses on the effective movement of body parts, normal pulse rate, waist-hip ratio, vision, blood pressure, hearing and respiratory rate. Similarly, mental health focuses on normal mental activities and how well a person manages himself with daily life stressful situations. A physically and mentally healthy person leads a meaningful life, enjoy moments of life, develop positivity and is productive towards society.

There are six principal components of health. A person’s complete health is entirely dependent on these components. Balance in all these six components is necessary to achieve health.

1 – Physical Health

Physical Health is in first position in our Components of Health. Physical health means that how well your body parts are working and are free of any sickness or disease. It means that you maintain healthy body weight, eat a proper diet, do exercise regularly and get enough sleep. It also means avoiding certain bad habits like alcohol and smoking.

2 – Mental Health

Mental Health is in second position in our Components of Health. Mental health refers to the ability to differentiate between reality and perception. It is the ability to cope with daily life situations, stress and being able to work properly in different conditions.

3 – Emotional Health

Emotional Health is in third position in our Components of Health. Emotional health means to have full control over your emotions. It refers to the expression of emotions in a healthy way without causing harm to any other. It does not mean being happy all the time but experiencing a variety of emotions appropriate to the situation.

4 – Social Health

Social Health is in fourth position in our Components of Health. Social health means to have healthy relationships with people in contact such as friends, teachers and family. It is the social interactions of a person and how well a person can adapt to varying social situations.

5 – Environmental Health

Environmental Health is in fifth position in our Components of Health. Humans are highly affected by their surroundings. Environmental health is acquired by keeping your surroundings clean and free of germs as well as negative thoughts. It means to keep the water you drink and air clean, eat healthy food and make your environment stress free.

6 – Spiritual Health

Spiritual Health is in sixth position in our Components of Health. Spiritual health is the ability to understand the purpose and meaning of your existence. It means to keep in mind your as well as other’s values, ethics, dignity and molarity.

What is Fitness

Fitness does not only focus on the physique of a person. A person looking physically fit from outside can be unfit from inside. Fitness not only makes us look good but it also makes us feel fresh and does our best. As an engine requires proper tuning to work properly for a longer time, similarly a human body needs fitness to work effectively. It means to perform the daily life activities diligently and being able to reserve energy for enjoying other activities too. It also means being able to meet the emergency demands of the body.

Fitness is the vital part of wellbeing and health of a person. It enables a person to withstand stressful conditions and do not let them affect the performance. Whereas, an unfit person is not able to perform its best in stress or tension. What is health and fitness and its components, if you understand this then rest of the task becomes facile. There are two parts of fitness, physical fitness and mental fitness. Physical fitness focuses on the effective functioning of body organs like lungs, heart, kidneys and muscles whereas mental fitness focuses on emotional stability and alertness of mind.

Components of Fitness

Fitness is composed of six components. For utter fitness one’s body must master in all of these components.

3 – Muscular Strength

4 – Coordination

5 – Muscular Endurance

6 – Flexibility

1 – Cardiovascular Endurance

Cardiovascular Endurance is in first position in our Components of Fitness. Cardiovascular endurance means when a person is performing any aerobic activity like running, playing, walking or cycling, how productively lungs, heart and blood vessels supply the oxygen-rich blood to the muscles of the body in action. It enables a person to exercise continuously for a long time without being fatigue.

2 – Body Composition

Body Composition is in second position in our Components of Fitness. The fat tissues in the body take more space than muscular tissues. So, the overall composition of the body determines whether a person is healthy or not. The body composition is the measure of the percentage of total muscles, water, bone and fat in the body.

3 – Muscular Strength

Muscular Strength is in third position in our Components of Fitness. Muscular strength refers to the highest amount of force that a muscle can deploy in an effort against any resistance. It can be increased by some training programs which include the lifting of weights. Muscular strength enables a person to lift weights and perform specific tasks.

4 – Coordination

Coordination is in fourth position in our Components of Fitness. Coordination means to have full control of the smooth movement of two or more than two body parts. It means to keep your body in a relatively stable gesture. It is essential in performing every daily life task like walking, eating, running and standing.

5 – Muscular Endurance

Muscular Endurance is in fifth position in our Components of Fitness. Muscular endurance means the capability of muscles to perform any task again and again without weariness. It helps a person to maintain a healthy weight, reduces the risk of getting injured and enables a person to do chores without being tired.

6 – Flexibility

Flexibility is in sixth position in our Components of Fitness. Flexibility is the ability of joints of the body to move freely without breaking. It also means that the muscles of the body can move in possible movements. Flexibility is of great importance, it affects the overall balance of body and prevents several injuries.

Mostly the cause of infection is found insides one’s body because people do not maintain a hygienic atmosphere around themselves. A healthy and fit person is productive and strong enough to adjust with ups and downs of life. He or she is not affected by their environmental changes. Instead, they appreciate their surroundings. Now, you know what is health and fitness and its components, so you need to keep in mind all these aspects and bring a dynamic change in your life.
